The grilles were a little flimsy, but I took them off anyway. Value: A little pricey; there are other monitor speakers of this size/power for less. But you get what you pay for in this case. Sound: Really outstanding clarity / transparence. I bought these on the strength of various reviews and because my home stereo speakers (floor-standing Wharfedale 3-ways) sound so good.
