Randall Kh120rhs Kirk Hammett Signature Series Half Stack With Kh120rh Head And Kh412 Cabinet Guitar Stacks Randall Guitars, Amps, and Effects Review :Feature: The review I mentioned cites some lackluster connections but then again it's a very low priced amp that if someone used in a fixed location and didn't have to use it on the road, it would have no problem. I plan to get one just to play with and perhaps use to power a subwoofer in the bridged mono mode, or give to my son for use with with an old preamp/tuner that I no longer need. Solid State amplifiers like this one should have no "sound" of their own, but rather should pass a signal without audibly altering it, if it does that, and there's no measured data that indicates otherwise, it is one helluva bargain. If you want something you can use on the road, get a QSC, they can take a beating. If you just need some stable power for a home studio, the Behringer will be perfect. Sound: I think your store would be wise to cite the review from The Audio Critic on line magazine. They tested this amp and gave it a good review based on performance for the money. Their comments were that for the price it was an excellent value even if it did not produce the rated wattage of 160wpc at 8ohms but rather 120 wpc, it is still hard to beat. The negative comments I see listed hear sound like they are based on someone who is used to tube amps which do things to sound that are good for performance but bad for playback, asuming what you want is inaudible distortion. Marshall Mg15mszw Limited Edition Zakk Wylde Guitar Amplifier Micro Stack (15 Watts 2x10 In.) Guitar Stacks Marshall Guitars, Amps, and Effects Review :Feature: For you money, you can buy a Zoom or Digitech entry-level pedal and use it as a headphone amp. As a bonus, you'll get a tuner, a drumbox and loads of effects all in a similarly sized package. Quality: It looks like the battery compartment cover will break after just a little use. Very tight fit, just waiting for it to break. Otherwise, about what you would expect. Value: If they would use a better op-amp in the preamp section to reduce the hiss to lower levels, I could recommend this product. For your money, you could get a small multi-effects pedal or save-up a little more $ and get the Tascam Bass Trainer or a Korg Pandora. Compared to what else is available, it just seems overpriced. Desirability: Sort-of big for what it does when compared to effects pedals. Sound: Clips very easily: you need to reduce the volume from your bass pickups to get a decent sound, which leads to another issue... Lots of hiss. I took the unit apart and saw TL082 opamps in the preamp section. Come on, you can do better than this! I might replace the opamps with better (quieter) chips, so I'll post again after I do this to see if the hiss improves. Support: Have never contacted the company Overall: I'll keep it around for when I just want a basic headphone amp, but it is hard to get excited about this product given that there are so many boxes on the market that run from batteries and have a headphone jack. Peavey Jsx Guitar Amplifier Half Stack Guitar Stacks Peavey Guitars, Amps, and Effects Review :Feature: Vintage looks and sound with modern features such as effects loop, high and low inputs and two channels. It also handles an 8 ohm extension cab. Quality: Solid build quality. Laquered tweed covering is nice to look at. The AlNiCo Blue speakers are absolutely awsome. Value: $825.00 is a bargain for this amp. Desirability: It looks great and sounds great with my guitars and my basses. Sound: Clear lows (no mud!) and nice highs without being brittle. Support: I rate it a ten even though I never needed technical assistance from Fender for any of their products (I own several Fender amps, guitars and basses) Overall: Overall, this amp fits my needs perfectly. Its a loud 60 watt amp and handles the lows from my Fender active jazz bass, even at high volumes. Great cleans and nice overdrive. Shipping Cost :$24.99 Listing Price :$2579.98 Review this product |
